Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible?

The ISST requires people to have a Masters in psychology, counselling, social work or a psychiatry qualification prior to starting certification. In Australia there are excepts for psychologists who have done the 4+2 or 5+1 pathways. Contact Ruth for more information.

How many people in the cohort?

Depending on demand, the group will be a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 18

Can I do parts of the training? I have already done some Schema Therapy training, so can I join for the days I haven't completed yet?

No. The cohort is designed to be a community for learning, that continues for 6 months. The cohort will be a progressive learning experience, tailored to the needs to the group, so there people can't "drop in" to the training. Often when people are learning Schema Therapy they complete more than the 6 days required, so you will build on your learning, even if you have already done Schema training.

Can I attend if I live outside of Canberra?

If you are able to attend in person for all 6 days you are very welcome to come.

What is the commitment outside of the training days?

There will be readings and a video assigned prior to each day and the group will also discuss how they are going with implementing Schema Therapy. You will need to be in a setting where you are able to implement Schema Therapy with clients.
