All sessions will be on Thursdays 12:30-2pm Canberra time and will be recorded to view later if unable to attend.
SESSION 1: STABILISING (April 4) Couples can find it hard to manage their Angry or Impulsive child, Bully/Attack or other high conflict modes. In SCT we aim to provide the containment in the room and build skills to manage those difficult modes.
Guest Presenter: Trish Cabrero is a Schema Couples Therapist (completing certification) and has developed some tools and out of session tasks aimed at helping couples manage dysregulation based on easy to understand psychoeducation around neuroscience for couples.
SESSION 2: AFFAIRS (May 2) Exploring meaning and modes after affairs. Ruth Holt will present a case study on work with a prototypical couple and there will be opportunity to workshop your couples work with affairs.
SESSION 3: SEX (August 1) This is a practical session, focussed on key interventions to help couples connect and build Healthy Adult intimacy.
Guest Presenter: Monica Cook a sexologist and has years of experience working with couples to develop a healthy sexual connection, particularly a healthy relationship to pleasure
SESSION 4: IMAGERY (Sept 5) Ruth Holt will present ideas for how to include imagery in your sessions with couples, ranging from brief imagery to connect to particular modes and schemas through to Imagery re-scripting and also couples Imagery for needs meeting.
SESSION 5: HOMEWORK (Oct 31) How do we help couples "make therapy last all week"? This session provides homework for couples in the assessment phase and the change phase of SCT, including creative adaptations for people who don't like writing tasks. Bring along your best out of session tasks for couples!
